About MeLasondra Burks was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. As a teen mother, she was determined to provide for her son and herself. Loving research and history, Lasondra became a genealogist at 15 years old. Wanting to make the world beautiful, she graduated high school with a cosmetology license and worked in 3 salons. As a volunteer, she assisted in a classroom setting, working with preschoolers in Early Childhood. Her skills were noticed, and she was offered a job that started her career in education and mental health at age 21. This job allowed her to display leadership ability, empowerment skills, keen foresight, and practical experience while helping families in crisis. Lasondra’s work in education and mental health lasted 30-plus years. She also briefly attended college during those years and stayed on the Dean’s list. She completed many genealogy books of her family going back to the 1600s and completed genealogy work for other families. She also practiced herbal medicine for over 30 years. In 2014 she wrote her first book, The Journey Within Me. Lasondra was recently able to retire from secular work. She can now focus solely on her book writing and publishing work. Self-taught and self-publishing, she is the author of numerous books of various genres, including fiction, non-fiction, action-adventure, historical fiction, self-help, sci-fi, and more. Her writings have entertained and touched the lives of many readers. Lasondra has a passion for helping others. For years, one of her humanitarian works while encouraging others is to make and hand out bags of essential items to the homeless in Cleveland and surrounding areas. Living in a western suburb outside of Cleveland, she enjoys writing, music, gardening, and motivating and empowering others.
